This is what you do

1. You need a 10-digit status number.

If you don't have it, contact
Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada
Email: aadnc.infopubs.aandc@canada.ca
Phone (toll-free): 1-800-567-9604
Fax: 1-866-817-3977
TTY (toll-free): 1-866-553-0554

There is information about who qualifies for a status number at the link below, but it can get complicated and you will probably have to phone or email (see above).

2. Go to Ontario psychotherapists who are covered by NIHB

At the above link you will find information about Beth Mares RP and some of the other licensed therapists who can provide free therapy. Choose one who seems suitable and arrange to talk briefly or to do a session to ensure that it is a fit.

If you need to contact the NIHB, which runs the program, their number is 1-800-881-3921.
