SELF-CARE FOR THE HEALTH CARE PRACTITIONER:
A Weekend of Mindfulness through Rhythm, Photography and Meditation
Friday May 1, 2009: 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Saturday May 2, 2009 10 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Location: Northeast of Markdale, 25 minutes south-east of Owen Sound
This workshop will be a dynamic, fun, introspective and community building opportunity for health care practitioners to care for self as well as practice mindfulness using drumming, sound, contemplative photography and meditation. In addition to the mental and physical health benefits, everyday mindfulness naturally encourages presence, self-acceptance, self-care, and self-honesty. Drumming allows our authentic and compassionate selves to express and play in community. Photography, practiced as mindful seeing, promotes perception of new perspectives and flexible responsiveness to our selves and to others. With these practices, we can develop new ways of deep listening and self-expression as well as care for our most important tool as health care practitioners, ourselves. With self-care comes an enhanced energy and capacity to feel connected with and to care compassionately for others.
NO EXPERIENCE WITH MEDITATION, DRUMMING OR PHOTOGRAPHY IS NECESSARY.
Cost: $195 (Early Bird Rate: $175 if registered and paid by April 10, 2009)
