who work with the arts (visual arts, dance, movement, poetry, music, voice and/or theatre)
and students of arts-based therapy, counseling or pedagogy programs.

This forum is great opportunity for networking, marketing opportunities,
informative discussion and the joy of meeting like hearted and minded individuals.

WHO LEADS PROFESSIONAL FACILITATE ARTS TORONTO?



Kathleen Rea has a Master's degree in the Expressive Arts with minor in Psychology from the European Graduate School and ISIS-Canada. She is also certified as a psychotherapist with the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counselors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists (OACCPP). Kathleen has a private practice and works as a dance and movement focused therapist at various clinics in the Toronto area. She offers services in the areas of body image, stress management, depression, bereavement, gender issues, addictions, mental health issues and trauma recovery. Her therapeutic methods involve the use of talk therapy, music, vocalization, and dance. Kathleen's also does therapeutic performance facilitation in which she helps marginalized groups express their life stories through public dance and theatre performance. Recently Kathleen started teaching Dance Therapy at York University.



Kathleen Rea combines her career as a therapist with a career in dance. She danced with Ballet Jörgen Canada, National Ballet of Canada and Tiroler Landestheater (Austria). Kathleen has choreographed over 30 original works for various organizations including Bravo Television, Canadian Olympic Association, Ballet Jörgen Canada, Gender Play, Ryerson University, Theatre Passe Muraille and Toronto Dance Theatre. In 2004 her award winning film Lapinthrope aired on Bravo Television and was screened at numerous international film festivals and. In 2009 Kathleen's full length modern ballet Long Live was nominated for three Dora Mavor Moore awards including outstanding choreography. In 2010 Kathleen won the K.M Hunter Dance Award. Kathleen is a member of the Contact Dance community, founding the Wednesday Dance Jam. The Wednesday Dance jam combines dance improvisation with live music has run weekly for 11 years. Kathleen is heading into her 11th year as a faculty member of George Brown College Dance program. She also teaches workshop in modern dance, dance improvisation and contact dance throughout the year with various organizations.
